"Life As a Doll in the Real World" is meant to be funny but also bring attention to two different ideas: the idiocracy of adult halloween costumes and that many people walk through life in a charade, in costume.
These photos were taken in public places in an adult halloween costume. I find it interesting how on halloween adults will dress up in costumes and parade around in outfits that are completely unpractical and insane looking for everyday life. Can you imagine walking around grocery shopping dressed as a bar maid or a witch or a vampire or in some scantily clad outfit only acceptable for adult entertainment venues? It's very interesting! It was interesting not only to put myself in such costume but to see people's reactions to me walking around as if I was wearing something normal. I received strange looks, hushed whispers and even pointed fingers.
This series also brings to light the idea that many of us live a lie; we are walking around and hiding behind our normal costumes. We pretend to be someone we are not and spend every day practicing a charade of life because we are too afraid to be who we are. Because of that we spend so much time and energy trying to be someone we are not which makes life unnecessarily stressful. So take time to think about your true self, remove your costume and enjoy life as you are and see how less stressful life can and should be.
